About Us.
01
The before
Rooted in four generations of South Dakota agriculture, our family legacy began near Huron, Willow Lake and Doland South Dakota. From an era when plowing and haying were done with draft horses to witnessing the first waves of automation arrive on the farm, our grandfathers experienced remarkable transformation across the decades. Their curiosity and willingness to embrace innovation laid the foundation for the progressive, technology-driven operation we continue to build today.

The Start
In 1973, Elgin Hofer set out to diversify the farm’s income as livestock were gradually phased out of the operation. With opportunity in mind, he and his brother loaded two combines—headers attached—onto the back of their dump truck and headed to Oklahoma with no work lined up.
Through cold calls to co-ops, elevators, and equipment dealers, they secured their first jobs—marking the birth of our company in the custom harvesting industry.
That leap of faith began a tradition that would involve multiple branches of our family over the decades, each taking their turn on the annual harvest run—from the Oklahoma-Texas border through the central plains and north to North Dakota.

The Now
At the turn of the millennium, our story entered a new chapter as we made the strategic decision to focus more on local custom agricultural services. With rapid growth in custom air seeding and planting, we concluded our southern harvest runs and shifted our full attention to serving producers closer to home.
Over the next two decades, our operation continued to evolve. Custom planting, commercial application, and trucking services were added to our portfolio, creating the full-service agricultural operation we proudly offer today.

the who
Today, Trent and Kelly Wipf, along with their three children, operate the company alongside Rodney and Deneise Wipf. The business continues to operate from the headquarters purchased by Elgin and Esther Hofer in 1959.
It is a true privilege to witness multiple generations grow up on the same land and in the same industry—carrying forward the values, work ethic, and passion that have defined our family for decades.
